In cooperation with the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, Sustainable Walla Walla is presenting a biweekly column in the UB titled "Toward a More Sustainable Community."
The goal of the column is to animate sustainable practices on the part of local people and organizations, and to encourage planning and actions that will result in a fully sustainable community. The column will feature reports by local businesses and organizations on their own activities, as well as articles focusing on general problems or opportunities we can all respond to.
The most recent articles are now online on the UB's website. Click here to view them.
If you would like to offer an article, the elements we’d like to see in organizational articles are: (1) the importance of sustainability to the organization, (2) sustainable actions the organization has taken or is taking, including at least some that are relevant to or replicable by other organizations, (3) plans for additional actions by the organization in the future, and (4) a comment regarding the importance of sustainability planning and integration of plans for the general community and region as a whole.
The elements we’d like to see for general articles are: (1) The highlighting of a local practice, problem, or opportunity relevant to sustainability, (2) an explanation of its importance and impacts generally and locally, (3) examples and local resources for a more sustainable approach to the issue.
We hope you'll read and review these articles, as well as offering any suggestions you may have for additional columns.here to view them.
